Building Materials: Rcc, brick, glass, paint, aluminium, tile etcLiberty, also known as Liberty Business Center is a 13 storied commercial building located beside the Dhaka- Mymensing highway in Uttara commercial area, Dhaka. The Liberty is being built on a 670 Sqm commercial plot. The project comprises of 12 high quality office spaces with the most modern facilities and updated technologies. The project is designed with the aim to become a new landmark in commercial district of Uttara. The site is directly adjacent to the street with heavy traffic. It is a simple rectangular building representing the composition of solid and void. Right amount of open space is left to be used as green, water body and driveway in the ground level.

The loft height of the ground floor gives an impression of freedom. The podium level acts as an island floating on invisible structural elements. The building’s external expression is done with an arrangement of glass and fair face concrete. The top rectangular mass expresses the concept of being free taking the liberty of freedom. To meet the challenge of structural design a combination of steel and RCC is adopted. Steel bracing are used to mitigate the challenges of large overhangs and cantilevers.

A sustainable approach has been taken in the design of the project. Due to the exposure of the building towards the east and west there is always a risk of excessive heat gain. An energy modeling has been performed to examine these factors and accordingly design solutions have been done. Use of proper sun control Low- E- glass and sun louvers will ensure the less heat intake inside and eventually reduce the cost of energy
