With the need of the client always in mind, Iqbal residence has been designed as a multi-generational vacation home which will allow it to be inhabited by all members of the extended family. The design is neat and comfortable, integrating a modern style into an old fashioned surrounding, unyielding the natural beauty and providing a relaxing and serene space inside.

The functional distribution plays a fundamental role in the design of a dwelling. Level 01 incorporates a public gathering space, Kacharighar, which allows the users to enter the house enjoying the triple height entry yet maintaining a privacy with the dwellers inside. Along with the Kacharighar, it houses private functions such as living room, dining space and bedroom facilities. Level 02 is a more private space hosting the bedrooms with a semi private seating area for the dwellers to enjoy the view of the serene surrounding. The space contained constitutes of a large atrium around which other functions are articulated. The sequence continues with the entrance lobby where the mail door of a solid wood covers the opening to celebrate the main entry. In the interior the spaces are articulated and linked through a staircase that rises through the atrium and the top layer allows the north light to illuminate the center of the house round the year. The triple height atrium enhances the passive cooling by letting the hot air pass out through the above windows.

Along with the family dwelling, the plot also houses a separate basic service facility, naming it the outdoor kitchen, which houses the living space for household staffs and a proper kitchen facility with an open dining for the family members to enjoy the green bed outside. Among the materials used, the house emphasizes more on locally available materials yet creating a modern look. Usage of cladding bricks on the exterior walls complete the composition of the residence.
